Manchester City are among the favourites to sign a RB Leipzig star but where would he fit in City’s squad?

Manchester City is reported to be one of favourites to sign RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo. But if they were to land the Spanish international, where would he fit into Pep Guardiola’s squad?

A report from Bild, which was relayed by Sport Witness indicates that the world champions are considered one of the front runners alongside Tottenham to sign Olmo this summer. Furthermore, they also report that Barcelona are also interested in signing the RB Leipzig star.

If Dani Olmo were to land at the Etihad Stadium this summer, he would add another versatile option to Pep Guardiola’s squad. The RB Leipzig star has the ability to play on either wing or as a number 10. That versatility would be of great use to Guardiola and to Manchester City.

However, as it stands currently, the City squad does have an abundance of quality midfield and wide options. As it stands currently, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb, Matheus Nunes and Julian Alvarez either play as a number 10 or on the wing. If Dani Olmo were to arrive, he would have to contend with a loaded City squad for minutes.

Perhaps a player or two would have to leave Manchester City to create space for Dani Olmo. If a player such as Bernardo Silva were to leave this summer, it may create an opening in the world champions squad for the RB Leipzig star to fill.

There are no doubts over the talent of Dani Olmo. He has shown that during his time RB Leipzig. The only doubt is where he would slot into the Manchester City squad if he were to arrive. Someone may have to leave City to cater for Olmo’s arrival if a deal was to materialise.
