Former Vikings’ Teammate Speaks Out On Facing Kirk Cousins

Since leaving the Vikings, Cousins has already run into drama with his new team.

During the 2024 NFL Draft, the Falcons shocked the entire NFL with their decision at No. 8 overall. Instead of adding to their roster around Cousins, they opted to take Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. It was a move that Cousins clearly did not like.

Cousins has hinted since the move was made that he would not have signed with the Falcons had he known that they would take his future replacement immediately after he signed.

With all of that being said and done, Cousins is focused on the task at hand. He is coming back from a brutal torn Achilles and is looking to prove to the NFL that he can still be an elite starting quarterback. That is a tall task, but one that he has clearly embraced.

As for the Vikings, they moved on well from Cousins. After they knew that he was leaving town, Minnesota went out and signed veteran quarterback Sam Darnold in free agency. They then went on to draft their future franchise quarterback in the first round of the draft, snagging J.J. McCarthy.

Clearly, the Vikings still love their former quarterback and everyone knows that Cousins will always carry Minnesota in his heart as well. However, the showdown between the Falcons and Vikings is going to be epic in Week 14.

It will be interesting to see how Kirk Cousins fares in 2024. Can he come back strong from the Achilles injury? We’ll have to wait to find out, but we’re all hoping that he’s healthy and that the Vikings and Falcons put on a show during their matchup this season.
