LeBron James has blunt assessment of Lakers after loss to Celtics

LeBron James is calling a spade a spade as his team’s struggles continue.

The Los Angeles Lakers lost again on Christmas Day, falling at home 126-115 to the rival Boston Celtics. It was the Lakers’ second loss in three games and their sixth in eight games since winning the NBA’s in-season tournament.

Speaking at his locker after the game, James made a concerning comment about the Lakers’ spot in the NBA pecking order.

“I don’t think we’re where we wanna be to be able to compete against the top teams,” said the four-time MVP, per Lakers Daily.

While the Lakers did get a quality win over the Oklahoma City Thunder over the weekend, their overall record against top teams isn't encouraging. They are 9-2 against teams under .500 but just 7-13 against teams .500 and over.

That comment could also read as James putting pressure on the Lakers’ front office to make an upgrade, which he has done countless times before. The purple and gold already shook up their lineup to try to snap out of all of the losing, but something more drastic may be required at this point.
